The ninth Snodland 10km road race was held on Sunday 12 October. A record entry of 36 runners took part. 10 of these came from South Africa so it was very international race this year.
Andrew Keeley won the race in 37 minutes and 33 seconds. The winner of the women’s race was Maria Heslop in 40 minutes and 6 seconds. This year there were three push chairs in the race and the winning pushers were Francois Hofmeyer and Terry Vorster in a time of 1 hour 3 minutes. A pretty amazing feat in anyone’s terms.
All runners received a small trophy and prizes were awarded by Town Council chairman Chris Block. Many congratulations to all those who took part and also to the organisers for a very enjoyable morning: Dave Keeley and his band of helpers did a great job, with Brian Morgan keeping an eye on the stragglers. Barbara Keeley for arranging the market in the Community Centre which raised money for local groups
