1. Apologies for absence
Apologies for absence were received from Cllrs C Block, Mrs S Boakes, C Grayhurst, Miss A Moloney and Mrs K Woolley.
2. Declarations of Interest
Cllr Withey is a fishing bailiff.
3. Matters Arising from the Minutes of the Meeting held on 28 July 2008
3.1 Item 7 – Recreation Ground – Easement.
STC is waiting for a reply.
4 Questions from the Public
4.1 Mr Boyce informed the Committee that the Chess Club have achieved an award. They would like to have an open top bus go through the Town.
Cllr Atkins suggested that a letter is sent to the Clerk with their request.
4.2 Mr Baldwin complained about some street lighting that is day burning. The street lights have been reported, although the Clerk will follow this up.
5. Allotments
A letter had been received from Mr Baldwin in reply to the Council’s letter dated 8 September 2008. The agreement in the letter is non-negotiable. Cllr Atkins measured the allotments and a fair decision has been made by the Council.
6. Football
Charlton Football team have sent an invitation to people in the Town to attend their football matches.
The Clerk will pass this information on to the Sports Association.
7. Potyns – New Build at Community Centre
The extension to the playing fields is ongoing, and there is discussion taking place with the Borough Council to progress this project.
There is no further update on the new build at the Community Centre.
8. Nevill Park - Bench
There is a metal bench in the Cemetery yard that will serve the purpose for Nevill Park.
Mr Streatfield is on leave at the moment and upon his return the bench will be sited.
9. Correspondence
9.1 Russett Homes has sent maps of the areas they are responsible for. The Clerk will send copies to all Councillors.
Cllr Withey said that on a recent walkabout with Russett Homes, the area was much cleaner.
Cllr Mrs Keeley stated the worst problem was leaves in the autumn, creating a difficult and dangerous walkway.
10. Any other items which the chairman has decided are urgent owing to special circumstances.
The Chairman moved that the press and public be excluded from the remainder of the meeting because of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted |
